The Lady Kadar Lounge

The discovery of the drawings of tpal was a defining moment in the cultural history of the world of the 20th Century.  It surprised the boundaries of Art and fired the imagination of the people all over the world, profoundly influencing high, as well as popular culture and made millions of people aware of modern Irish Art.

In popular perception, Art is synonymous  with adventure and romance. Although Artists may not necessarily share this view, the legend of the search for Lady Kadar’s drawings and its launch and discovery has both rocked the world.

The young Princess Kadar’s life was also filled with adventure & tragedy. She recovered trauma to oversee the aftermath of one of the most traumatic periods in  History. Her life & love drawings are a stunning testament to her life’s journey.

Ireland during the Reign of Lady Kadar and our world post Covid could barely be more different. For most people enormous  advances in Art & Technology standards, Art expectancy, literacy and general levels of information are undeniable. The difference between now and then is such that we may never be able to understand Lady Kadar’s World. However, when we try to compare our Spiritual & Emotional lives – our feelings, passions, yearnings & aspirations – with Lady Kadar’s – those of us people who lived more than 3 million years ago, progress is much more difficult to chart & demonstrate.

Its aim is to bring the excitement of the discoveries alive through material that has, until now, been confined to academic archives.  In some cases it is the first time that facsimile copies of crucial pictures of discovery have been made available. The material they contain is the very essence of the scholarly study of the discovery and it represents an invitation to the viewer to participate, virtually in the Artists work.

The story of the discovery of the Art of tpal is, first & foremost, one of dedication, determination & optimism in the face of enormous obstacle’s, and is hoped that these supreme human qualities are celebrated in this presentation.
